This blog post will give you tips and tricks on how to find out your own ring size in no time at all, and what you should pay attention to. Soon you will know what size to wear when you buy MASCHALINA rings.
How do I measure my ring size?
There are many different methods to determine your ring size. Over the next couple of paragraphs, we'll explain four easy ways to measure your ring size. Soon your dream ring will be yours!
If measuring is still too tedious for you, there is still the absolute emergency solution: A MASCHALINA stretch ring - because with these you only need the approximate ring size. But let's return to the actual topic: The ring sizing!
Method 1: Measure ring size with DIY paper strips or string
For this ring size measuring method, you will need either a paper strip or a string. If you decide to use the paper strip, it is best to cut a 10cm long and about 0.5-1cm wide strip. Then you put the paper strip or the thread around the finger on which you want to wear the ring. Mark the place where the two ends of the strip or thread intersect. You can either do this with a pen or cut it off with scissors. Finally, place the strip/thread on a ruler. The length in mm tells you your ring size: 48mm = ring size 48, 50mm = ring size 50, 52mm = ring size 52.
Method 2: The ring template for the engagement ring
This method is perfect for those who want to surprise their girlfriend with a ring. Whether it's for Valentine's Day or for an engagement, you often face the challenge of not knowing your loved one's ring size. For this case we have prepared a template for you, which you only have to print out. You place one of your girlfriend's rings on the template and see which circle fills the inside of the ring. Under the matching circle you will find the correct ring size. Make sure that you also use a ring that she wears on her ring finger. For your information: Engagement rings are usually worn on the left hand.
Method 3: The inner diameter of the ring does the trick
You don't have a printer and you don't feel like making a paper strip? But you have a beautiful ring at home that fits you perfectly? Then just take a ruler, put the ring on it and read the inner diameter in mm. You only have to multiply the inner diameter (in mm) by 3.14. With an inner diameter of 16, for example, this results in 50.24 - rounded down to a ring size of 50.
Method 4: The ring stick or ring tape measure
Lastly, there is the option of ordering a ring stick or ring measuring tape online. A ring stick is often used at the jeweler to determine the correct ring size. For the ring stick you only need a ring that already fits perfectly on your finger. Just put the ring on the ring stick and you can read your ring size. The ring measuring tape is also available online. You put it around your finger like a belt and you can read the ring size on the tape.
Why is the ring so loose in the morning and so tight in the evening?
There are some little things to pay attention to when determining your own ring size. Have you ever noticed that the same ring sits very loosely on your finger in the morning and then suddenly becomes terribly tight in the evening? It's certainly not just you: because in the morning the fingers are often slimmer than in the evening. During the day, your fingers and body can become slightly thicker due to various factors such as water retention. Even a few millimeters of difference can be noticeable when wearing a ring. Outside temperatures also affect the circumference of the fingers. In cold temperatures, fingers are thinner than in warm temperatures. Pregnancy can also change the circumference of the fingers. Therefore, we advise you to pay attention to various influencing factors when determining your ring size. It is not recommended to measure the ring size directly after getting up or directly before going to bed. Likewise, you should not do this on ice cold or extremely hot days.
